Every so often we all experience a moment of unity with nature. Whether it arises from admiring a beautiful flower or taking a deep breath of fresh air after sitting inside all the time, discovering our inherent link with the world around us is an extensive delight of being human. This beautiful flow from Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us to prize all elements of life, and also inspires us to see plainly that ‘each one of us lugs the Planet within every cell of our body.’

‘ The Earth is our mommy, nourishing and shielding us in every moment-giving us air to breathe, fresh water to drink, food to eat and also healing herbs to cure us when we are unwell. Every breath we breathe in contains our world’s nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor as well as trace elements. When we breathe with mindfulness, we could experience our interbeing with the Earth’s delicate atmosphere, with all the plants, or even with the sunlight, whose light enable the miracle of photosynthesis. With every breath we could experience communion. With every breath we can enjoy the marvels of life.

We should change our way of reasoning and also seeing points. We have to realise that the Planet is not simply our environment. The Planet is not something outside of us. Taking a breath with mindfulness and considering your body, you become aware that you are the Earth. You become aware that your awareness is also the consciousness of the Earth. Take a look around you-what you see is not your setting, it is you.’
